DJ AM aka Adam Michael Goldstein … REST IN POWER
Friday, August 28th, 2009
This one has got me fucked up … Adam was a friend … I knew him back before the fame and glory before the famous chicks and fast lane … He struggled with drugs years ago got involved with them when he was a bit heavy but realized that it wasn’t the way and straightened himself out … We used to lunch at La La’s at little cafe on Melrose and wrap about sneakers and gadgets and of course music … as he got more successful we didn’t see each other much but I always considered him a friend. The first time I saw him after the crash he was at the UFC with Mandy Moore . When I saw him I was so glad he was alive I hugged him for like 30 seconds which seemed like forever and would have made most people uncomfortable but he just hugged me back and smiled and thanked me for caring. My only regret is I wasn’t close enough to him to know he was wrestling with the demons again I know cats that were way closer to him that wish the same … If only he had reached out to anyone of many cats that truly cared and would have flown to wherever he was to help. I being just one of those many. You will be missed more than you will ever know Adam ….

Friday, August 14th, 2009Les Paul … Rest in Power
Thursday, August 13th, 2009
Les Paul, the virtuoso guitarist and inventor whose solid-body electric guitar and recording studio innovations changed the course of 20th-century popular music, died Thursday in White Plains. He was 94.
The cause was complications of pneumonia, Gibson Guitar announced.
Mr. Paul was a remarkable musician as well as a tireless tinkerer. He played guitar with leading prewar jazz and pop musicians from Louis Armstrong to Bing Crosby. In the 1930s he began experimenting with guitar amplification, and by 1941 he had built what was probably the first solid-body electric guitar, although there are other claimants. With his electric guitar and the vocals of his wife, Mary Ford, he used overdubbing, multitrack recording and new electronic effects to create a string of hits in the 1950s.
